A permit is generally not required when the bin is placed completely on private property with the property owner’s permission. If any portion of the bin occupies a City road right-of-way, such as a public street, alley, sidewalk, back lane or boulevard, a Calgary street-use permit may be required. Depending on the location, temporary traffic-control or no-parking requirements may also apply.
